**Jewelia portrays self-blame and heartbreak in nostalgic bedroom pop single**

A soft pop song about heartbreak, with dreamy vocals, a chill mellow electronic beat and a folky guitar in the choruses, ‘Was it You or Was it Me?’ is about feeling alone and insecure after a failed relationship, while looking back with melancholy at all that went wrong.

In 2020, a time where many artists struggled for inspiration, Jewelia found a way to force creativity by challenging herself to write and record a song every month. ‘Was it You or Was it Me’ was born from this challenge. Talking about the song, Jewelia explains:

“I’ve not written 'Was it You or Was it Me' about myself, but about someone very close to me who has gone through a heartbreak last year. Break-ups are difficult at any time, even more so in the context of a pandemic. My friend had to deal with this completely on her own; I wish I could have been there to comfort her, but I was unable to.”

“We’ve all been in situation where we’ve been disappointed by someone, or felt like we let someone down, and we beat ourselves up. Guilt is a powerful emotion, which comes hand in hand with the feeling of unworthiness and fear of rejection. The song is about accepting and understanding one’s part in the failure of a relationship, and eventually resigning to the fact that maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Jewelia's music is a mixture of piano-powered fairy tales and nostalgia infused indie pop. Her eclectic style takes influences from the music of piano-driven songstresses like Kate Bush and Tori Amos and more modern artists such as Lana del Rey, Billie Eilish or Sufjan Stevens.

Her previous single ‘Is This World Mine' has received airplay from BBC Upload in Kent, and over 20 other regional UK radio stations. Previously, Jewelia received support from BBC Nottingham, BBC Introducing Three Counties and Eagle Radio in UK, and also airplay on national radio in Romania (National FM and Europa FM) after her song ‘Aquarium’ was chosen as the soundtrack of a mini-that aired on Romanian television. Her debut album, which raised over $5000 on Kickstarter, was in top three albums of the year on Cam FM Breakthrough in 2019. Jewelia has been growing a strong online presence and has over one million total YouTube views on her channel.
